We made the pages of CRN recently as part of their coverage on Jitterbit, a California-based cloud integration vendor that Vertiba teamed up with to improve public transportation for a major U.S. City.

Our own Chad Kelly, Director of Technical Architecture, commented on the project that integrated the point-of-sales system used on trains and buses, and in terminals to sell and validate rider’s fare cards with the transit agency’s instance of Salesforce.

“The connectivity enabled Vertiba to deliver new self-service e-commerce capabilities, such as the ability to register cards, add products to cards already in patrons’ pockets, and the ability for patrons to view their trip history online,” Kelly told CRN.

The project leveraged Jitterbit’s new Harmony Live, coupled with Salesforce’s Lightning Connect feature, to quickly deliver instant visibility at the point-of-sale in real-time, without writing any code. That’s because Harmony Live allows clients to assign APIs to their own data, devices and apps – perfect for Salesforce’s new Lightning Connect tool and customizations Vertiba performs all the time, and nearly eliminating the need for duplicate data across systems!

Thanks to Salesforce and long-time members of the AppExchange like Jitterbit, it’s becoming even easier for us to consolidate the various software and apps that make up the enterprise system. We have a feeling the Salesforce’s Lightning Connect and Jitterbit’s functionality will come in handy for other projects too. Maybe even yours…
